Meet the team: Introducing Danny, Head of Product Design at GIVE.asia

The GIVE.asia team consists of a group of talented individuals with varied backgrounds across multiple industries. Often, they work at GIVE.asia in a voluntary capacity and maintain full-time jobs at the same time. In our Meet the Team series, we introduce members of our team and today we talk to Danny. Here he shares about who he is, what he does, and why.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today Danny. Can you share with us a little bit about who you are and what you do at GIVE.asia?
Hello! I’m Danny and I am a Product Designer at GIVE.asia.

What does a typical work day look like to you?
I don’t really have a typical work day at GIVE.asia. Being a Product Designer handling branding and graphic design-oriented work, I work on what’s the highest priority at the moment. When a new initiative requires a significant amount of design work, I can spend days working on it and then sharing my progress with the team during our weekly sprint meetings.

Why do you work at GIVE.asia?
It started out as a way for me to give back to society utilising a skill I am quite adept at but grew into the fact that I really enjoy working with an amazing and talented team of kind folks.

Tell us a fun fact about you.
I enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons! Even though I haven’t played since having kids, I would love to play Dungeons & Dragons with my twin boys when they are older!

Who inspires you the most?
There are many well-known individuals that I look up to, but I don’t have a single person that particularly inspires me. I do get inspired by people who make or create things. Every time I read the story of someone that leaves their cushy corporate job to do something on their own and they are doing well, it inspires me.

How do you wind down after a busy day?
I usually end my work late at night so an easy way for me to wind down after a busy day would be just binging on Netflix (currently Squid Game) with my wife.

What’s your favourite book?
My favourite book is Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip and Dan Heath. This book changed the way I looked at Design and taught me to harness the power of memes and stories for maximum stickiness.

What cause resonates with you the most?
I believe that all children deserve access to healthcare when they need it. That’s why one of the products I am most proud of at GIVE.asia is ChildMed, our recurring donation programme aimed at supporting children in need of urgent medical care.

There are many options for giving, some donors choose to give back every so often, while others give back regularly. GIVE.asia’s ChildMed program involves donors giving back monthly in order to give every child access to urgent healthcare.

We believe that giving occurs through more than just donating money, and if you would like to give your time or expertise by joining the GIVE.asia team, click here.
